KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) has appointed Datuk Nor Azam M. Taib as the group chief executive officer (GCEO) effective July 1.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MBSB said Nor Azam has more than 26 years of extensive experience in the banking and finance sector in the areas of auditing, structured lending, business banking and corporate business.
Prior to MBSB, he was head of business banking in Bank Islam (M) Bhd.
Since joining MBSB on Nov 8, 2010, Nor Azam, 55, has been leading the bank's corporate business division and was subsequently appointed as chief business officer (CBO) of MBSB Bank in April 2018.
He was subsequently appointed as the deputy chief executive officer effective Jan 1, 2021 with an expansion of role to oversee all divisions in MBSB Group including MBSB Bank Bhd.
Nor Azam is an accounting graduate from the University of Wyoming, United States and also holds a Masters In Business Administration from Charles Sturt University, Australia.
MBSB chairman Tan Sri Azlan Zainol said in a statement: “We are pleased to have Nor Azam leading the group on our roadmap to become a top progressive Islamic Bank in the country. His in-depth knowledge and leadership at MBSB Bank for the last 11 years will be key to strengthening the bank’s presence.”
